WIC (Nutrition Program For Women, Infants and Children)

Do you need help to buy more nutritious food for yourself and your children?

Quick Facts
What is it?
WIC is a federal program that provides women, infants and children with nutritious food and nutrition education in order to improve their health and diet. The program is for pregnant women, infants and children under the age of 5 who are at risk for malnutrition and poor health. You can get WIC even if you are receiving Food Stamps.

What do you get?
The average monthly benefit for WIC is $45 per month per family. The exact amount of WIC allotment depends on your household size and income. WIC gives you vouchers that you can use to buy food at your local grocery store.

How long do you get it?
Every 6 months you will have to re-certify for WIC. Your local WIC office will let you know that you are due for re-certification and will schedule a re-certification appointment. You must bring all the documents listed in the 'What do I need to bring?' box when you go to the appointment.
